Hello and welcome to Gossip Time, a weekly guide to the stars by Allie Jones. This week: an actress files for divorce, a reality star hosts a movie night, and a certain 49-year-old actor gets a puppy.
On Wednesday, Page Six exclusively revealed that Sutton Foster, the 49-year-old star of stage and screen, has filed for divorce from her husband of 10 years, the 53-year-old screenwriter Ted Griffin. Ordinarily, this kind of divorce would not generate much gossip; Foster is mostly famous to Broadway fans, and Griffin is not famous at all (sorry). But! Foster’s breakup lends credence to the previously unbelievable theory that Hugh Jackman left his wife of 27 years for her.
Jackman, 56, filed for divorce from Deborra-lee Furness a little over a year ago now. Since then, he has not publicly dated anyone and has instead third-wheeled several outings with his close personal friends and colleagues Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively. This pointed display of sad-bachelor status is just a front, says Page Six. Jackman and Foster, who starred together in The Music Man on Broadway in 2022, have been together all along.
“They go out of their way to hide it, but it’s common knowledge” that Jackman and Foster are dating, a source told the gossip outlet. “They are 100 percent together and are in love and want to spend the rest of their lives together.”
Could this be true? It seems that both of their marriages broke down at the same time, anyway — right after they closed The Music Man in January of last year. Foster used to post about Griffin on Instagram all the time, but in February, she stopped. Then Jackman announced his divorce in September. When Foster filed for divorce in New York this week, she filed for an “uncontested” divorce, which means her marriage has been over for at least six months and that all financial and custody-related issues have been resolved (Foster and Griffin share a seven-year-old daughter).
I doubt we’ll see Foster and Jackman doing a pap stroll outside Via Carota anytime soon, but I hope, if they really are in love, that they one day find the courage to tell us about it on the cover of People.
In the meantime, we can recall the circumstances of Foster’s previous divorce from fellow Broadway actor Christian Borle in 2006. It was rumored at the time that Borle had an affair with his Legally Blonde: The Musical co-star Laura Bell Bundy, which led Foster to hook up with Bundy’s boyfriend Roger Bart when the two starred in Young Frankenstein together the next year. You really never know what theater people are going to do.
I wonder if Foster has to hang out with Lively now?
Speaking of musicals, Kim Kardashian hosted an insanely over-the-top Wicked screening at her house on Tuesday with appearances by the stars themselves, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. Kardashian sisters Kourtney Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, and Kylie Jenner all showed up and brought their kids, and of course Kris Jenner was there too.
What I want to know is: Who all got paid for this? Everyone, I guess? Well, probably not the kids.
I do worry, generally, about the rest of the Wicked press tour. Erivo stumbled last week with her freakout over fan edits of the movie poster, and this week, Grande got into it with, um, Elvira.
During a fan Q&A at Knott’s Berry Farm this week, Elvira told a story about how one time, Grande brought a bunch of friends and family members to take pictures with her backstage at one of her shows, and then she declined to take a picture with her herself. Grande responded to this accusation thusly:
Maybe everyone should stay off Instagram for a little bit.
STUFF BY HILARY DUFF: Hilary Duff starred alongside Sutton Foster in Younger for seven seasons. Foster made Duff a crocheted toilet paper roll cover as a present for her wedding in 2019. It is not clear to me if they still hang out.
Finally, I must leave you with the news that Leo DiCaprio and his Italian model girlfriend Vittoria Ceretti got a new Pomeranian puppy:
DiCaprio also got a puppy with his last model girlfriend, Camila Morrone — two, in fact. They were Husky rescues named Jack and Jill. Not sure what they’re up to now.
