Hello and welcome to Gossip Time, a weekly guide to the stars by Allie Jones. This week: an actor regrets an interview, a model gets pregnant with a Walmart heir, and Olivia Munn gives birth to John Mulaney’s baby.
Since Ben Affleck got back together with J-Lo in May, I’ve been wondering when he was going to fuck up all the public goodwill the renewed relationship has brought him. That happened this week, when he went on The Howard Stern Show (why) to talk about his marriage to Jennifer Garner (WHY) and how his addiction issues could be her fault (AAAHH). Here is the relevant quote, where he discusses what he thinks would have happened if they stayed together instead of divorcing in 2015:
“We probably would’ve ended up at each other’s throats. I probably still would’ve been drinking. It's part of why I started drinking… because I was trapped. I was like, ‘I can’t leave ‘cause of my kids, but I’m not happy, what do I do?’ What I did was drink a bottle of scotch and fall asleep on the couch, which turned out not to be the solution.”
Of course, this was part of a longer conversation in which he also said nice things about the mother of his three children, but still. Idiot behavior. Garner hasn’t publicly responded to Affleck’s comments, but according to Page Six, her friends think they were “disgusting.” Lopez, too, is unhappy with this whole situation: a source told Page Six she’s “pissed” and “doesn’t want to be dragged into this.”
Still, Lopez went with Affleck to a taping of his interview with Jimmy Kimmel on Wednesday, where Affleck tried to correct the record. He said his comments were taken out of context and that people like to hate on him because he’s “sad Batman” and “the Dunkin’ Donuts meme guy.”
Hmm. I don’t know if Affleck was particularly successful in shutting down the controversy here, but at least people will probably forget about this by the time he proposes to Lopez.
One gal who is probably happy this week: Ana de Armas. The actress and former very photogenic girlfriend of Affleck was photographed making out with her new boyfriend, a Tinder executive named Paul Boukadakis, during a shopping trip in L.A. The couple has reportedly been dating since the spring after meeting through mutual friends, whatever that means. E! News reports that the relationship is “very serious,” but so far, Boukadakis has not been spotted with a life-size cutout of his girlfriend.
Also probably happy: Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger, who are reportedly expecting their second child together. Sources exclusively confirmed the pregnancy to People, which is certainly a better strategy than letting Pratt reveal the news in some tortured caption on Instagram.
In slightly more interesting pregnancy news, former Sports Illustrated swimsuit model and Leo DiCaprio girlfriend (circa 2015) Kelly Rohrbach is pregnant with her first child with husband Steuart Walton, heir to the Walmart fortune. According to Page Six, Rohrbach is already eight months along. “They have a name picked out, but are keeping it quiet,” a source told the gossip outlet. “They aren’t telling anybody.”
Mysterious! Also mysterious is what Rohrbach has been up to since “quietly” marrying Walton in Florida in 2019. The model and Baywatch actress hasn’t posted on Instagram since 2018, and her last job was a bit part in Woody Allen’s 2019 film A Rainy Day in New York (yikes). According to Page Six, she has simply focused on “being present” in her relationship with Walton, which apparently includes trips around the world on his “personal plane.” Good for her?
And in late-breaking pregnancy news: TMZ reports this afternoon that Olivia Munn had her baby with John Mulaney on November 24, the day before Thanksgiving. Here’s the couple’s stated relationship timeline, in case you need a refresher.
STUFF BY HILARY DUFF: The first trailer for Hilary Duff’s How I Met Your Father was released this week, and it looks like something I will watch no matter what:
I was surprised to learn that in the world of this show, Duff apparently ages into Kim Catrall. Aspirational!
Finally, I’ll leave you with these photos of Megan Fox leaving the office of the esteemed Dr. Jason Diamond this week:
The tabloids say she was attempting to hide her “noticeably plumper” lips, but she was also really presenting that branded bag to the paparazzi, so my theory is this was an ad.
This will be our last regular gossip update for the year. Thank you all so much for subscribing and sharing your thoughts every week; I love hearing from you! See you in 2022.
Truly bizarre to me that people still go on Howard Stern.
