Has Blake Lively finally girlbossed too close to the sun? She was supposed to be having the best summer ever, and now the press tour for her Colleen Hoover adaptation It Ends With Us is going completely haywire. Social media users are calling her the “Plantation Princess.” Norwegian reporters are posting videos of interviews she did eight years ago during which she was frankly quite rude. What’s next?
First, let’s review how we got here. It Ends With Us, a movie about a flower shop owner named Lily Bloom who is abused by her husband and ultimately escapes the cycle of domestic violence when she gives birth to a daughter, hit theaters this past weekend. (I saw it on Friday; it’s a totally acceptable B movie that I can imagine rewatching on a plane five years from now. Lively’s costumes are goofy, occasionally to the point of distraction, but she is a beautiful actress so it all evens out.)
Now, Lively’s director and co-star Justin Baldoni is facing criticism for some reportedly unsavory behavior on set, and Lively is getting backlash for being, well, Blake Lively.
