Hello and welcome to Gossip Time, a weekly guide to the stars by Allie Jones. This week: Celebrity boyfriends are getting older, the monarchy is getting weaker, and Karlie Kloss is chilling in Miami.
The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, Piers Morgan got fired from his daytime TV show — things are looking up. In New York, it’s been over 60 degrees for two days in a row, which means Katie Holmes is wearing little prairie dresses again:
And in L.A., celebrities are falling in love with each other and maybe even getting married. This week Zach Braff, 45, was photographed wearing what looks like a WEDDING RING while walking his dog with his 25-year-old girlfriend Florence Pugh. People reports that this little pap stroll is “fueling speculation” that the couple has “secretly married,” but representatives for the pair declined to comment. Idk, do they look married to you?
Braff and Pugh are not the only May-December romance in the tabloids this season. At the end of last month, Skeet Ulrich, 51, and Lucy Hale, 31, were photographed making out with each other at a cafe called Sweet Butter Kitchen in Sherman Oaks.
According to Us Weekly, the couple met through mutual friends in “the Archie universe.” (Hale played Katy Keene on the now-cancelled Katy Keene, and Ulrich played Jughead’s dad on Riverdale.) A source told the tabloid this week that Hale and Ulrich know they have a “huge age gap” but “it doesn’t bother them.”
E! News reports that the couple has been dating for over a month. "They spend a lot of time at each other's homes just hanging out and being low key,” a source revealed. “Lucy thinks Skeet is very charming and sweet. She likes that he is a dedicated dad."
(Ulrich is a father to 19-year-old twins.)
Scott Disick, 37, and Amelia Hamlin, 19, don’t have quite as big of an age gap — just 18 years. Perhaps that’s why People reported this week that the two of them are “getting serious.”
A source told the tabloid that Hamlin, daughter of Real Housewife Lisa Rinna and actor Harry Hamlin, “grew up in the industry and knows how all this works,” which is one of the most terrifying tabloid source quotes I have ever read. She has a “different type of maturity,” this source continued, which means she easily relates to Disick, a reality star and the father of Kourtney Kardashian’s three young children.
Kardashian, 41, has a history of dating younger people herself; over the last few years she’s been linked to Justin Bieber, Luka Sabbat, and the model Younes Bendjima, who are all about 15 years younger than she is. But as you know, she’s recently taken up with a fellow Gen X-er: Travis Barker, 45. "Kourtney is at a place in her life now where she's ready for a relationship with a more mature guy," a source told People this week.
It sounds like reasonable celebrities can differ on who is and is not a mature guy. Best of luck to all!
Over in London, the royal family is trying and failing to contain the fallout from Oprah’s gripping and revelatory interview with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The Queen released a lukewarm statement two full days after the interview aired, which alluded to Meghan and Harry’s allegation that a senior member of the royal family had "concerns and conversations about how dark [Archie's] skin might be when he's born.” In her statement, the Queen said “recollections may vary” when it comes to the “issues raised” in the interview.
Prince William was not able to come up with a better defense when he was asked about the interview yesterday while visiting an east London school with his wife Kate Middleton. “We’re very much not a racist family,” he told reporters. Alright man.
William also said that he hadn’t spoken to his brother since the interview aired, but that he planned to do so at some point. I was thinking about this rift between brothers when I saw this photo of Karlie Kloss and her husband Josh Kushner walking around Miami this week:
Kloss, as you can see, is currently expecting the couple’s first child. The last time we heard from her was on January 6th, when she tweeted about the insurrection at the Capitol.
Kloss’s brother- and sister-in-law are, of course, Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump. Kloss may disagree with them on certain political issues, but that didn’t stop her and Josh from buying a $23.5 million mansion located just down the road from them in Miami. It’s not clear how long Karlie and Josh have been living in their new place, as Karlie hasn’t posted on social media since she revealed to the world how hard she has tried. How do you think things are going now?
STUFF BY HILARY DUFF: Hilary Duff wrote a book! It’s called My Brave Little Girl, and it’s for children ages 3 and up.
Finally, I’ll leave you with this photo of Rihanna going to dinner at her favorite restaurant Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica last night:
According to the Daily Mail, this was the star’s third visit to the restaurant this week, and she dined alone. Perfect.
