Hello and welcome to Gossip Time, a weekly guide to the stars by Allie Jones. This week: a celebrity dad blames a DM on his daughters, stars go wild in Australia, and Mary-Kate Olsen enjoys a Knicks game.
BENNIFER: Unfortunately it’s all we can talk about. The couple known independently as Ben Affleck, 48, and Jennifer Lopez, 51, have grown more and more comfortable with publicizing their renewed romance, which means that we have been getting just-about hourly updates on their whereabouts and thoughts and feelings. In the last week alone, we have learned the following through the tabloids:
Affleck flew to Miami to spend time with J.Lo in an $18 million rented mansion
J.Lo has convinced Affleck to start working out; they were spotted kissing “in between sets” during a session at Anatomy gym on Monday
Despite this new commitment to fitness Affleck is of course still smoking
He’s also been wearing the Franck Muller watch Lopez got him in 2002
The couple still really likes to hang out on balconies
A source told People this week: “They don't want to hide anymore. They are both excited about their relationship. They want to make sure they do everything they can to make this work. Jennifer is incredibly happy. She feels like she can just be herself around Ben.”
All of this is naturally triggering some of Lopez’s ex-boyfriends. Look at what Diddy posted on Instagram yesterday:
And just after Affleck flew back to L.A., it appears that Marc Anthony took J.Lo on a lunch date:
Next thing you know Drake is going to be on a flight to Miami.
Meanwhile, J.Lo’s most recent ex, Alex Rodriguez, is handling the situation the way you might expect, which is to say that he’s been DMing random women on Instagram.
Last weekend, the Australian TV presenter Belinda Russell revealed that A-Rod DM’d her in response to a video of her dancing. The message was as follows: “Great feed!!!!!”
After Russell mentioned the DM on-air, a PR rep for A-Rod told E! News that it was actually his daughters who sent the message from his account. According to this rep, Natasha, 16, and Elle, 13, are “big fans” of the 40-something TV host. And so, apparently, they simply wanted to tell her: Great feed!!!!!
It’s not just Ben and Jen: Plenty more celebrities are acting crazy in love these days. Look at Jennifer Lawrence and her husband Cooke Maroney taking a walk in Manhattan this week:
The actress, 30, and art dealer, 36, have been married for just 18 months and they have already morphed into the same person.
Meanwhile, the newly engaged Aaron Rodgers, 37, and Shailene Woodley, 29, jetted off to Hawaii this week to meet up with Woodley’s friend Miles Teller and his wife, Keleigh Teller. E! News is all over it:
Rodgers reportedly skipped some off-season practices for the vacation. If there are any NFL fans reading this (LOL), will you let me know if that’s a big deal or if plenty of players do it and it’s whatever?
The mood is even wilder in Australia. By now, I’m sure you’ve seen the photos of Taika Waititi, Rita Ora, and Tessa Thompson enjoying some kind of ménage à trois on the balcony of Waititi’s Sydney home.
Thompson was also photographed making out with another person — the model Zac Stenmark — the same day. So far, the director, pop star (?), actress, and model haven’t commented on their relationships with one another, but it seems like everyone is having fun.
