The Kanye West and Julia Fox implosion
It's Gossip Time!
Hello and welcome to Gossip Time, a weekly guide to the stars by Allie Jones. This week: everyone broke up, a 46-year-old semi-retired actor couldn’t land a blonde, and Hilary Duff changed her Instagram bio.
Valentine’s Day is over, and love is dead. This week brought news of several celebrity breakups, starting with Kanye West, 44, and his non-monogamous girlfriend of one month, Julia Fox, 32. Fox announced the end of the pair’s whirlwind, Carbone-sponsored relationship on Instagram this week just before Hunter Harris’s New York profile of her went live. Fox seems to be doing just fine. West, on the other hand, has spent the week posting on Instagram about wanting to get back together with his ex-wife Kim Kardashian, 41, his disdain for her current boyfriend Pete Davidson, 28, and his apparent feud with Kid Cudi, 38.
Kardashian and Davidson seem to be happy together regardless: They celebrated Valentine’s Day in one of the COVID yurts outside Lilia in Williamsburg, and Davidson subsequently rejoined Instagram, despite the fact that there is a lot going on there for him right now. (As of this writing he only follows Kardashian and… Sebastian Stan.) I wish them the best.
Back to breakups: Shailene Woodley and Aaron Rodgers also called it quits this week after getting engaged just over a year ago. InTouch broke the news (good for them!) with a source alleging that Rodgers got “cold feet.” Another source told Us Weekly that Woodley’s friends didn’t care for Rodgers, and perhaps the same source told People that Rodgers is a “complicated guy,” which is a nice way of saying he doesn’t believe in vaccines. I hope they both find other people to go to Disney World with in the future.
Another shocking split: Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey and actress Rosario Dawson of Hollywood have broken up after two long years together. “A source close to the New Jersey lawmaker” broke the news to People. Dawson declined to comment.
And OK, this one is really sad: Tobey Maguire, 46, is no longer dating his model girlfriend Tatiana Dieteman, 27. A source told Entertainment Tonight that the couple split “months ago,” which is good because she posted about another man on Valentine’s Day. His name is Koa Smith, and he’s a 26-year-old pro surfer. Tough break.
Maguire appears to be dealing with the breakup by going out for several “boys’ nights” with his best friend Leo DiCaprio, 47. The two were spotted in the VIP section (hell yeah) at MainRō in Hollywood last week, surrounded by a “bevy of beauties,” per the Daily Mail. But a source told Page Six that Maguire didn’t kiss any girls that night, despite help from his pal. “It was very clear that Tobey was on the prowl and Leo was his wingman,” the source reported. “Leo introduced Tobey to three different blondes. Even with Leo’s help, Tobey couldn’t land a girl. None of them seemed interested when introduced.”
The good news is that DiCaprio is still committed to his 24-year-old model girlfriend Cami Morrone. There is hope for all of us yet.
