Hello and welcome to Gossip Time, a weekly guide to the stars by Allie Jones. This week: a Kardashian gets engaged, an actress gets caught smoking, and Emma Watson tries a new look.
Perhaps you’ve heard: Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker are engaged. The 42-year-old mostly vegan reality star and the 45-year-old professional drummer took their 10-month relationship to the next level with a Montecito beach proposal reminiscent of the time Talan asked Kristin to senior prom:
According to TMZ, the whole thing was filmed for the Kardashians’ forthcoming Hulu show, so we’ll get to relive the magic again in six months or so. Should Kardashian and Barker follow through on their commitment to one another, the marriage will be Barker’s third and Kardashian’s first. The entire family seems happy about about the match: All of Kourtney’s sisters, Barker’s children, and even Kris Jenner’s boyfriend Corey Gamble gathered for a celebratory dinner after the proposal, which was also documented from every angle.
Kim Kardashian was especially impressed by the 15-carat Lorraine Schwartz ring:

Not present at the celebration, understandably, was the father of Kourtney’s three children, Scott Disick. Everyone was worried about what the 38-year-old “Talentless” founder might do in the wake of this happy news for his ex, but the answer seems to be “more of the same.” Last night, he was photographed walking into a West Hollywood nightclub with a 23-year-old Instagram model named Elizabeth Grace Lindley.
Frankly, I’m more concerned about what Kardashian and Barker’s engagement means for the couple’s BFFs Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly. They have to get married now too, right? I think unfortunately that’s the law.
TMZ reports that Fox finalized her divorce from Brian Austin Green this week, so there’s really no excuse. According to TMZ, Fox and Green didn’t have a prenup (!) but agreed to joint custody of their three children, Bodhi Ransom, Noah Shannon, and Journey River. (This is — hopefully — the end of a long and arduous journey for Fox and Green, who started dating in 2004 when Fox was 18 and Green was 31. Fox first filed for divorce in 2015, but called it off a year later when she got pregnant with the couple’s third child. She filed again for real in November of last year.)
Green is currently dating Dancing With The Stars pro Sharna Burgess, who is somehow not the same person as Shanna Moakler. Moakler is Barker’s second wife, and for the record, she’s not commenting on the Kardashian engagement:

Smoking: it’s back. This week, Katie Holmes, 42, was photographed puffing away while wearing a funny hat in Brooklyn. According to the Daily Mail, the actress “quickly sucked down three whole cigarettes” while standing on the sidewalk, staring into the middle distance.
The accepted tabloid narrative is that Holmes quit smoking when she got together with Tom Cruise, but I don’t think she ever gave up for very long — the paparazzi catch her with a cigarette about every two years.
Sarah Jessica Parker, 56, was also photographed smoking this week while filming the SATC reboot in Manhattan. She was wearing a crazy Carrie outfit, which people seemed to enjoy.
