Hello and welcome to Gossip Time, a weekly guide to the stars by Allie Jones. This week: an actor reconnects with one of his old models, a reality star makes a face at the People’s Choice Awards, and Bennifer sits courtside at a Lakers game.
I’d like to begin with a Page Six article regarding Leo DiCaprio’s presence at Art Basel this past weekend. The gossip outlet reports that DiCaprio, 47, ran into one of his ex-model-girlfriends at a “Galore and ARTchive launch party at Socialista.” The model in question was Nina Agdal, 29, who dated DiCaprio for about a year in 2017. (They broke up when she turned 25.) DiCaprio’s current model girlfriend, Camila Morrone, 24, was nowhere to be seen.
According to Page Six, DiCaprio and Agdal “were sitting across from each other” and “said a friendly hello and chatted for a moment” during the party. How very socialista of them! And somewhat interesting, given that Agdal is currently single after breaking up with Christie Brinkley’s son Jack Brinkley-Cook last month. Here’s how Page Six describes that situation: “A source told us ‘there are no hard feelings,’ but that Agdal blocked Brinkley-Cook’s family because she ‘needed space.’” Sorry, Christie.
But that’s not all that happened at the Galore and ARTchive launch party at Socialista. While DiCaprio was catching up with Agdal, another newly single twenty-something made an impression on her fellow guests. A source reports that Camila Cabello, 24, fresh off her breakup with Shawn Mendes, 23, was in attendance “with her girlfriends… acting single.”
The Page Six report unfortunately does not say whether DiCaprio noticed Cabello “…acting single,” but I imagine that he is attuned to this sort of thing. I’m glad everyone had fun.
Sadly, the People’s Choice Awards this week were not so fun — at least not for Khloé Kardashian. According to Us Weekly, the 37-year-old reality star “wasn’t smiling a lot” and was “constantly on her phone” during the broadcast. She apparently even made an “I don’t care” face when Halle Berry accepted the People’s Icon award.
This is all because Kardashian’s ex-boyfriend Tristan Thompson, who is the father of her three-year-old daughter, True, cheated on her again. Allegedly. This week, reports surfaced that the 30-year-old NBA star fathered another child with a personal trainer based in Houston named Maralee Nichols. According to a paternity suit that Nichols filed ahead of her child’s birth last week, Nichols and Thompson had a relationship and conceived the child in March, when Thompson was supposed to be back together with Kardashian.
Despite the fact that Thompson has publicly cheated on Kardashian multiple times before, including when she herself was pregnant, a source tells People that she is disappointed because "she always believed that [Thompson] would change."
"She is just a really great person and wants to see the positive in people," the source added.
I don’t really have much to say about this situation except: I think Kardashian should have been allowed to skip the People’s Choice Awards.
In happier relationship news, Ben Affleck, 49, and Jennifer Lopez, 52, sat together courtside at the Lakers game this week. They looked very content with each other, except for one moment in which Lopez seemed to stare off into the middle distance. I’m sure that was nothing. According to a source who talked to Entertainment Tonight, Bennifer remains very much in love.
“During the game, Jennifer and Ben sat closely to each other and Ben had his arm around Jennifer for the majority of the night,” the source said. “They also were leaning their heads in towards each other throughout different points in the evening and Jennifer also rested her head on Ben's chest, and they also hugged each other.”
While Affleck and Lopez were doing all that leaning and also resting and also hugging, executives were busy burying Affleck’s forthcoming film Deep Water. You remember Deep Water: It’s the thriller where Affleck met his very photogenic ex-girlfriend, Ana de Armas. After multiple pandemic-related delays, the film was supposed to be released in January, but now Disney has removed it from its slate entirely. I’m sad we’re going to miss what would have been a thrilling promotional cycle.
STUFF BY HILARY DUFF: I learned some shocking information this week, which is that @HilaryNews, my number one source for news about Hilary Duff, has been suspended on Twitter. What? Why? If you work at Twitter, can you please let me know what happened, thank you.
Finally, I’ll leave you this photo of Jennifer Aniston, Justin Theroux, and Ann Dowd on the set of the Facts of Life special this week:
Cute! I hope Dowd is okay. And let this serve as your periodic reminder that Aniston and Theroux were never legally married.
Thanks so much for opening this email. If you have a friend who likes celebrity gossip, why not forward it to them? And if you’d like to sign up for a paid subscription, you can do that here. As always, feel free to share your thoughts and theories in the comments or by replying directly.
