Hello and welcome to Gossip Time, a weekly guide to the stars by Allie Jones. This week: an actress and a rock star get engaged, a reality star and a comedian enjoy some frozen treats, and Reese Witherspoon sends a warning from the future.
Well, a high-profile celebrity couple got engaged this week, but unfortunately, it wasn’t Bennifer. Instead, congratulations are in order for Machine Gun Kelly, 31, who proposed to his girlfriend of almost two years, Megan Fox, 35, in Puerto Rico with a $500,000 emerald-and-diamond engagement ring. The whole thing was filmed from multiple hidden-camera angles, like an episode of Big Brother:
Fox wrote on Instagram, “Just as in every lifetime before this one, and as in every lifetime that will follow it, I said yes…and then we drank each other’s blood.”
Cool! For his part, MGK shared the meaning behind his choice of ring: “I know tradition is one ring, but I designed it with Stephen Webster to be two: the emerald (her birth stone) and the diamond (my birth stone) set on two magnetic bands of thorns that draw together as two halves of the same soul forming the obscure heart that is our love.” Also cool.
According to People, Fox was surprised by the proposal. “They have traveled to Puerto Rico before, so Megan just assumed it was another vacation,” a source told the tabloid. “She is very happy and feels beyond blessed.”
Given Fox and MGK’s chosen aesthetic, I think their wedding will be on a continuum with Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale’s in 2002:
And Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz’s in 2008:
Those marriages didn’t last, but I’m sure this one will be different.
Speaking of Foxes, Kanye West’s new girlfriend Julia Fox is still talking all about their 15-day relationship on various platforms. Yesterday, she released an episode of her podcast, “Forbidden Fruits,” where she called West, 44, a “fucking genius” and said that she was honored to be in his presence. She also corrected the record on one crucial matter: She said she’s actually not a Kardashian superfan. “I’m not like a die-hard, [standing] in line in the cold or, like, a store opening,” she explained. “I don’t even own one Lip Kit.”
Still, the 31-year-old actress seems to be enjoying her increased proximity to other celebrities as a result of her new relationship: Fox and West were photographed clubbing at Delilah on Wednesday night alongside a random assortment of stars including Madonna, Antonio Brown, Floyd Mayweather, and Ashlee Simpson’s current husband Evan Ross. Here’s what that looked like:
Sometime later in the evening, West allegedly punched a fan who approached him in the street, and now he is under investigation by the LAPD for misdemeanor battery. Hopefully that all works out.
West’s estranged wife Kim Kardashian, meanwhile, is enjoying various branded food items with her new boyfriend, Pete Davidson. Kardashian, 41, and Davidson, 28, were photographed cruising the Camarillo outlet mall on Monday, where they purchased a treat. A source exclusively told Page Six: “They were in Camarillo on Saturday and stopped into the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory to get caramel apples and frozen bananas, like she always does when she’s out there.”
Then, on Tuesday, they visited Jon & Vinny’s on Fairfax, where they were photographed in the vicinity of two pizzas. According to TMZ, they “journeyed on over to a local Rite Aid” after dinner, where “they each grabbed some Thrifty ice cream for dessert.”
Sounds good.
STUFF BY HILARY DUFF: Perhaps you were wondering exactly what Hilary Duff was wearing during her appearance on The Bachelor Monday night. People will tell you: a cream-colored Nanushka tank top with fun fringe detailing, dark blue skinny jeans, and Veronica Beard Dacey clogs.
Finally, I’ll leave you with this warning from Reese Witherspoon, 45:
Well? ARE YOU????
