Hello and welcome to Gossip Time, a weekly guide to the stars by Allie Jones. This week: an actor gets an interesting question, a comedian follows an actress across the pond, and Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz wear each other’s wisdom teeth on necklaces.
Do you remember Orlando Bloom? Sure you do: Legolas, got married to Victoria’s Secret Angel Miranda Kerr, got divorced from Victoria’s Secret Angel Miranda Kerr, got into a fistfight with Justin Bieber in Ibiza, sat on a curb with Selena Gomez in L.A. You know:
Anyway, now Bloom is engaged to Katy Perry. They had a baby together this summer. And Bloom is also starring in a new movie called Retaliation, which means he’s been doing interviews. This one, with The Guardian, is getting some attention, because Bloom discussed his personal life in it. The interviewer asked, “How often do you have sex?” and Bloom replied, “Not enough — we just had a baby though.”
I just want to pause and read that question again. How often do you have sex? Hmm. I have interviewed a few celebrities in my time, and it never occurred to me that one of my questions could be: How often do you have sex? Is that allowed now? You can just ask a famous person, straight up: How often do you have sex? And then they have to reply with something like: Not enough — we just had a baby though..?
Maybe this kind of question is more acceptable in the U.K., although it seems like the opposite would be true. (Brits, feel free to weigh in.) Either way, now we know: Bloom and Perry are not doing it enough, if you ask Bloom. Perry has yet to publicly respond to this characterization of her relationship, but I guess she’s probably busy with American Idol.
Know who else is not having sex? Ben Affleck and his recent ex-girlfriend Ana de Armas. The tabloids got all excited this week that the very photogenic former couple was getting back together, because de Armas posted a selfie while wearing a half-heart necklace that she and Affleck used to wear when they were together. But de Armas dispelled the rumors with another Instagram post:
Conveniently, de Armas is playing Marilyn Monroe in a forthcoming biopic, so now the tabloids can talk about that. Affleck, meanwhile, is currently filming The Tender Bar with George Clooney in Boston. Here’s what that looks like:
It seems that Affleck’s former fiancée Jennifer Lopez is doing ever so slightly better in the relationship department. People reported this week that she’s committed to making things work with her current fiancé Alex Rodriguez, even though the couple sort of broke up for a second two weeks ago. A source told the tabloid that J-Lo and A-Rod are "doing everything they can to prioritize their relationship." How often do they have sex? I don’t know, but I guess someone could ask them now, if they wanted to.
I have another question for our British subscribers: Have you seen Pete Davidson? According to the tabloids, he’s been spotted in multiple U.K. locations this month, including places like “Altrincham, Greater Manchester” and “Caverswall, Staffordshire.” Apparently, this is because he recently started dating Phoebe Dynevor, star of Bridgerton.
Incredibly, Page Six got the scoop on the potential new couple from a 14-year-old gossip hound named Tilly Wagg. The Caverswall teen told the outlet yesterday that she personally saw Davidson and Dynevor walking past her family’s house this week.
“They were holding hands, hugging and seemed like they were a couple,” she said. “I hadn’t seen anything written about Pete being in a relationship with Phoebe, but once I saw them together I thought, ‘Maybe they are?’”
Wow. Wagg also offered her general opinions on Davidson, which are pretty good. “I knew him from when he used to date Ariana Grande,” she said. “I listen to her music sometimes. It is amazing how he ends up dating all these famous women, but then he was really nice and talkative.”
Thank you Tilly!
STUFF BY HILARY DUFF: I have a feeling that Hilary Duff is going to give birth today. If I’m wrong, I’ll admit it next week.
Finally, I’ll leave you with this Page Six headline:
If you want to find out more about what that means, you can read the article, but I think just looking at all those words together is enough.
Thanks so much for opening this email. If you have a friend who likes celebrity gossip, why not forward it to them? And please feel free to share your thoughts and theories in the comments or by replying to this email.
I clicked on all the links in the Brooklyn/Nicola piece and now I am deeply sorry, both for me and for them
