Hello and welcome to Gossip Time, a weekly guide to the stars by Allie Jones. This week: a pop star gets engaged, a reality star gets a knee scooter, and Hilary Duff gets an interesting new gig.
We knew this was coming: Selena Gomez announced on Wednesday that she is engaged to her soulmate Benny Blanco.
The 32-year-old pop star/actress and 36-year-old music producer have been dating for the last year and a half, and Gomez has been insistent with her fans that this is the happiest relationship of her life. (Never forget her Instagram retort to a commenter last year: “then why has he been the best thing that’s ever happened to me. The end.”)
Blanco proposed with a 4ish-carat marquise diamond (and Taco Bell, apparently). A source told People that Gomez has been “glowing” ever since.
“They’re so supportive of each other,” the source continued. “He wants the best for her and she wants the best for him. They’re perfect together. They really are.”
We believe you!!!
Of course, several celebrities have offered the couple their congratulations: Taylor Swift, Jennifer Aniston, Steve Martin, Gwyneth Paltrow, and even…Hailey Bieber.
Bieber, who married Gomez’s first love Justin Bieber in 2018, did not comment on Gomez’s engagement post, but she did “like” it. Which says so much.
Calling it now: Gomez and Blanco will have a big, traditional black-tie wedding in Santa Barbara or Malibu and Vogue will cover it. Merry Christmas to us.
Some other news items getting me in the holiday spirit: Charlize Theron had a Godfather-themed holiday party called “The Godfatheron.” January Jones posted a photo from the photobooth:

But the alleged trust fund Cruise had set up for his daughter Suri Cruise (now Suri Noelle) has yet to materialize. Katie Holmes posted on Instagram that the Daily Mail’s report of Suri’s millionaire status is untrue:

Did you see Kim Kardashian broke her foot? She also has a new boyfriend, according to Us Weekly. But she is keeping his identity “very under wraps,” a source claimed. Okay, I’m bored.
Chris Pine, meanwhile, finally allowed the name of his mystery girlfriend to leak: It’s Keana Sky Wenger. According to the tabloids, she’s a 29-year-old former hostess at Saffy’s in L.A. Pine is 44, for the record.
The biggest mystery of all, of course, is when Meghan Markle is going to make her jam available for sale. She announced her (theoretical at this point) brand American Riviera Orchard back in March. Ah well. She looked happy at a friend’s baby shower this week.
STUFF BY HILARY DUFF: Hilary Duff is the new face of…Meta A.I.?
This is a very long, meandering ad in which Duff uses the Meta A.I. platform to come up with “holiday date night” activities to do with her husband. She lands on decorating gingerbread houses and ends up doing it by herself. Win? I stand with this commenter:
