Football season is here again, which means that Taylor Swift is back to palling around with her famous friends in a VIP suite at her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs games. Except, wait: Blake Lively, Swift’s Super Bowl date last season, is laying low until people stop talking about her domestic violence movie drama. And Brittany Mahomes, wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Swift’s new best friend for life circa October 2023, has just revealed herself to be an unabashed Trump supporter. As a result, Swift attended the season opener at Arrowhead Stadium this week by herself. Where’s Cara Delevingne when you need her?
Swift, who is definitely not contractually obligated to appear at at least 70 percent of Kelce’s home games this season, had only her interesting outfit for company at the game on Thursday. The editors at Just Jared, bless them, attempted to create a slideshow of the other guests in Swift’s suite, but it’s just blurry photos of Kelce’s parents, his manager, and his physical therapist.
Ms. Mahomes, who is currently pregnant with her third child, sat in a different VIP suite. And she was not spotted at the after party that Kelce threw at the Kansas City hotspot “Prime Social.” According to Page Six, Swift had a good time without her. “Taylor got a little drunky,” an insider told the outlet.
Just two weeks ago, before Trump praised Brittany on social media, Swift hosted her and Patrick at her $17 million Rhode Island mansion, along with the rest of the squad: Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds, Kelce, Kelce’s brother and sister-in-law Jason and Kylie Kelce, and Gigi Hadid and her very serious boyfriend Bradley Cooper. But summer’s over now. And it’s an election year!
Swift waited until October 7 to endorse Joe Biden in 2020. I think her endorsement of Kamala Harris this cycle is probably not a done deal, and now this Brittany sideshow makes Tree Paine’s life even harder. Swift is going to have to spend the rest of the regular season populating her VIP suite with everyone but Mahomes. I hope Hadid, Zoë Kravitz, Selena Gomez, Sophie Turner, Greta Gerwig, Laura Dern, Ice Spice, Jack Antonoff, Keleigh “Kelly” Teller, and all three Haim girls are ready to report for duty. The Chiefs face the Cincinnati Bengals at home next Sunday.
Swift’s one-time nemesis Katy Perry is somehow doing worse than everyone. I have mostly avoided talking about her discomfiting promo for her latest flop album, 143, this summer, but her appearance on “Call Her Daddy” this week must be noted. First of all, she wore nipple piercings through her T-shirt.
Second of all, she talked a lot of nonsense. When host Alex Cooper asked her about her decision to work with disgraced producer Dr. Luke on the album — surprising, given that Cooper usually tosses softballs to her celebrity guests — Perry said the following:
“Look, I understand that it started a lot of conversations. And he was one of many collaborators that I collaborated with. But the reality is it comes from me. The truth is I wrote these songs from my experience of my whole life going through this metamorphosis. And he was one of the people to help facilitate all that, one of the writers, one of the producers. And I am speaking from my own experience. When I speak about “Woman’s World,” I speak about feeling so empowered now as a mother, as a woman, giving birth, creating life, creating another set of organs, a brain, a heart. I created a whole ass heart, and I did it. And I’m still doing it, and I'm still a matriarch and feeling really grounded in that, that's where I’m speaking from. And so I created all of this with several different collaborators, people that I’ve collaborated with from the past, from the Teenage Dream era, all of that.”

She also revealed that she and Orlando Bloom broke up for a year in 2017 and that her love language is “acts of service,” as exemplified here:

Wow, the name thing feels super amateurish. Why didn’t she secure the trademarks before her very extended launch campaign? The no place name rule is not a secret. She needs a better team.
