Hello and welcome to Gossip Time, a weekly guide to the stars by Allie Jones. This week: a pop star gets a new love interest, an actor gets (really) divorced, and Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom enter a new, more ominous phase of Breakup Watch.
This week, paid subscribers got a breakdown of all the gossip from the Met Gala. If you missed it, you can subscribe and read here.
Taylor Swift has officially been single for three weeks, which means it’s time for the tabloids to start making guesses about her next boyfriend. This week, the British tabloid The Sun took a big swing: The paper reported Swift has secretly been dating Matty Healy, the semi-controversial lead singer of The 1975, for weeks. According to The Sun, Swift, 33, and Healy, 34, are “ready to go public with their romance” in Nashville this weekend, where Swift is performing a series of three shows.
I’ll believe it when I see it. The Sun found at least one British-sounding source to back up their claims, however. Per this unnamed source, Swift and Healy “are madly in love. It’s super-early days, but it feels right. They first dated, very briefly, almost ten years ago but timings just didn’t work out…Both Matty and Taylor have been touring over the past few weeks, so it’s been a lot of FaceTiming and texting but she cannot wait to see him again…She’s told pals Matty is flying to Nashville over the weekend to support her on the next leg of her tour.”
Swift and Healy are at the very least friendly. She debuted one of her new songs at a 1975 show in London in January, and the pair reportedly worked on music together last year that has yet to see the light of day. They also have a lot of mutual friends including their shared collaborator Jack Antonoff. But they have never been spotted holding hands or making out or anything, and they haven’t been photographed at all together since Swift broke up with Joe Alwyn. Healy reportedly broke up with FKA twigs last summer.
Personally, I don’t see them together romantically. But maybe you do? Let me know in the comments, and I guess we’ll have to pay attention to what happens in Nashville this weekend.
In more interesting relationship news, Irina Shayk is at it again. The last time we heard from the 37-year-old model, she was canoodling with Leo DiCaprio at Coachella. Then, on Monday, she was photographed walking up to the Met Gala afterparty at Zero Bond with Chris Rock. DiCaprio was also at the party.
Shayk has a history of dating powerful, famous men: Cristiano Ronaldo, Bradley Cooper, Kanye West. In the fall, she posted photos of Cooper on vacation with her, and sources told the tabloids they were getting back together to try for another baby (they share five-year-old daughter Lea de Seine Shayk Cooper). That dream never materialized, and now it seems Shayk is publicly trying out different potential boyfriends. Could Rock, 58, be the one?
His last serious girlfriend was Lake Bell, 44, and they were pretty public: They did pap strolls at Giorgio Baldi and showed up to each other’s events. I liked them together! But that ended sometime earlier this year (Rock said he was single in his Netflix special that aired in March).
Rock and Shayk could work, I guess. For one, Rock is not good friends with Cooper, which makes him a better choice than DiCaprio, who is. In fact, Cooper was one of the people to comfort Will Smith immediately after he slapped Rock at the Oscars last year. Perhaps this gave our potential new couple something to talk about?
This week in unexpected drama: Kevin Costner’s life is falling apart. The 68-year-old actor is officially departing Yellowstone amid rumors of a feud between himself and creator Taylor Sheridan. Also, his wife of 19 years, Christine Baumgartner, is leaving him amid rumors that he cheated on her (and maybe even got someone pregnant) on set in Montana. Help!
The day of the divorce filing, Costner’s rep issued a statement claiming the split was not his idea. “It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action,” the rep said, making liberal use of the passive voice. Rumors about the reasons for the sudden split are flying now: that Costner has always been a cheater, that he avoided his family for months while working on Yellowstone, that he got an unnamed worker on the show pregnant (oh dear). His rep has said that rumors of infidelity are “not true.” I think we’ll probably be hearing more about all this in the coming weeks.
STUFF BY HILARY DUFF: Hilary Duff would like to know what you doin this weekend?
Finally, I will leave you with the news that Katy Perry is performing at King Charles’s coronation this weekend for some reason:
As paid subscribers of this newsletter already know, Perry and her fiancé Orlando Bloom are on Code Red Breakup Watch after attending some kind of couples therapy retreat and posting about how they want to kill each other on Instagram. Will Bloom, a loyal citizen of the U.K., make the trip to cheer her on? And will he manage to say something nice about her performance after the fact? I will be watching.
