My dear friend Kelly Conaboy sent me this headline yesterday with the question, “Do you think this means they’ll be winding the relationship down?”
LOL. There’s only one source quote in this EXCLUSIVE People story about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, and it’s all in the headline. “They're having a lot of fun, but they're still seeing where it goes,” the source reveals. Uh oh.
Us Weekly has a story with a similar outlook this week. According to this tabloid’s source, “Taylor and Travis make a concerted effort to keep their connection alive and thriving.” Oh dear.
Based on the timeline Swift, 34, and Kelce, also 34, have presented in interviews, they have been dating for about six months. Is that typically when you have to start making a concerted effort to keep your connection alive and thriving?
Every couple is different, of course, and this particular one is about to face some logistical challenges. Kelce’s football season is coming to a close, which means Swift will no longer have an excuse to wear red to get attention on Sundays. And Swift is leaving the country for the second leg of her Eras tour in February. Will Kelce be in the audience in Tokyo, Lisbon, Hamburg, and Gelsenkirchen? Or will that get…boring?
Last week, Page Six reported that Swift and Kelce were planning to get engaged but not on Valentine’s Day. “They don’t want it to seem like rushed insanity,” a source told the outlet. “Taylor and Travis discussed it and there is a plan. They will get engaged on their one-year anniversary in July.”
But sources close to Swift (Tree Paine) quickly threw hot water on this so-called plan, telling TMZ they think Swift and Kelce are still in the “honeymoon phase,” and “it’s just too early to tell if they’ll ever advance past the dating stage.”
What do all of these stories mean? In my professional opinion, Swift and Kelce have never slept in the same bed together, so that has to be getting old for somebody. I think they will stick it out for the rest of the NFL season, though. Imagine if the Chiefs make it to the Super Bowl again; there’s no way either of them would pass up such an opportunity to display their, um, awareness of each other in front of all of America. And maybe they will get engaged! Getting engaged as a celebrity, however, is fake. Even getting married as a celebrity can be fake — just ask Jennifer Aniston.
With my deepest apologies to Brittany Mahomes, I give this relationship two more months, tops.

I really wondered how Jennifer Lopez was going to drum up interest in her forthcoming album about dating Ben Affleck again but by God, she’s done it. This “cinematic experience” not only features Lopez dancing around a giant steampunk version of her own heart, it also promises cameos from Fat Joe, Derek Hough, famous podcaster and Bennifer wedding officiant Jay Shetty, Neil Degrasse Tyson, and Affleck himself. This trailer is the best movie I’ve seen in 2024.
STUFF BY HILARY DUFF: A writer on the scuttled Lizzie McGuire reboot has been revealing plot points from the show on TikTok this week for some reason. Hilary Duff has not commented.
