Hello and welcome to Gossip Time, a weekly guide to the stars by Allie Jones. This week: Gisele Bündchen is burning sage, Adam Levine is not letting the haters bring him down, and Eva Mendes is asking you to buy a sponge.
Last month, I predicted Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen would announce their separation sometime before the Super Bowl. After a flurry of updates this week about lawyers and assets and general Brady panic, I’m wondering if we won’t get a Notes-app statement on Instagram before Brady’s game against the Falcons on Sunday. The latest:
Bündchen and Brady have reportedly both hired lawyers, with sources alleging Bündchen did so first
Bündchen was photographed visiting a fuzzy-slippers-wearing healer in Miami who burned sage around her SUV
Bündchen was NOT wearing her wedding ring in these photos
Sources close to Brady have started telling the tabloids that he’s “hurting” and worried about an “ugly” court battle
Bündchen has not attended any of Brady’s games so far this season and is reportedly living alone in Miami
While Brady is apparently worried about how this will all play out in the middle of his (last?) football season, Bündchen seems to be at peace. “Gisele is doing fine,” a source told People this morning. “She is getting her stuff in order. They are both over [fighting for their marriage] and it's happening now so they can do their own thing and move on.”
Amen.
The unretired quarterback and supermodel are not the only couple staring down another holiday season with their partner and deciding to call it quits. Tia Mowry announced this week that she is divorcing her husband of 14 years, Cory Hardrict, with a black-and-white photo on Instagram. (Tamera Mowry is supportive.)
Also divorcing are Jeff Bezos’s ex-wife Mackenzie Scott and her schoolteacher husband of less than two years, Dan Jewett. And Robin Wright quietly filed for divorce from her third husband, the Saint Laurent executive Clément Giraudet, after quietly getting married four years ago in France. Wright never talked about the wedding, but according to her daughter Dylan Penn, it was fun:
Who’s next? Well, Jada Pinkett Smith announced this week that she is writing a memoir that will detail her “complicated marriage to Will Smith,” among other topics. The book is due to hit shelves next fall and could possibly be step one on a separation PR tour. I’ll be watching!
Guess who’s not getting divorced: Adam Levine. The 43-year-old Maroon 5 frontman is apparently weathering his DM-cheating scandal just fine. His pregnant wife Behati Prinsloo showed up to cheer him on at a charity concert in Vegas last weekend, and according to Us Weekly, Levine feels pretty good about where this is all heading. “Adam isn’t letting this get to him,” the source said. “He said what he wanted to say and is working through this privately with Behati.”
Another source revealed that Levine feels “grateful” that there have been very few repercussions for his actions. “All he can do now is make sure he works on himself and doesn’t mess things up again,” the source said. “He loves Behati dearly and feels beyond grateful and lucky that she’s sticking by his side and giving him a second chance to prove himself.”
He’s still making money, too: Maroon 5 announced last week that they will do a 16-show residency in Vegas next year, probably right around the time his third baby is born — nice.
Also on the upswing is Lindsay Lohan, despite everything. The 36-year-old actress/podcaster is starring in an upcoming Netflix Christmas movie where she plays a hotel heiress who gets amnesia after a skiing accident and subsequently falls in love with Chord Overstreet. The trailer came out today, and it looks incredible:
Ideally Lohan should do ten more of these.
STUFF BY HILARY DUFF: I have bad news. Hilary Duff’s husband is a troll. And it looks like it’s terminal:
I’m not even sure what half of these refer to but they worry me all the same.
Finally, I’ll leave you with the exciting news that Eva Mendes has launched a line of kitchen sponges.
This was a couple weeks ago, but I just found out about it and thought you should know. Better than a skincare brand.
