Hello and welcome to Gossip Time, a weekly guide to the stars by Allie Jones. This week: Gisele Bündchen is spiking the football, Megan Fox is hanging on to her boyfriend for dear life, and Zac Efron is inflating.
After two months of wind-up, Gisele Bündchen filed for divorce from Tom Brady today in Florida. TMZ confirmed the filing, People has a source insisting that custody and a property settlement have already been worked out, and both parties released Instagram statements confirming they are going their separate ways.
Bucking the recent trend of celebrity divorcees releasing joint statements in which they promise to always remain friends, the football player and supermodel expressed themselves in their own words. The differences are slight but telling: Brady, 45, used “we” statements; Bündchen, 42, went with “I.” And neither party expressed a desire to ever be in the same room with the other again.
Bündchen posted her statement in both English and Portuguese, and the Portuguese version ends on a slightly more exciting note. Instead of “Thank you. 🙏” she wrote, “Obrigada! 🙏” She really seems happy to be done. And now Brady can keep losing football games and breaking tablets and slowly destroying his brain and body without any interference from his family. Everybody wins!
One estranged couple that has not hammered out a divorce settlement yet: Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. West, of course, is in the process of losing all of his business deals due to his antisemitic rants, White Lives Matter t-shirts, and generally chaotic behavior. And TMZ reports that he may lose his family, too: According to a source, West “hasn’t exercised his custodial rights in months,” even though the one remaining lawyer he employs is trying to work out a custody deal for him. So far, Kardashian, 42, and West, 45, have not been able to come to an agreement, so it’s possible their divorce could go to trial in December. Yikes.
Remember when West “dated” Irina Shayk for two minutes last summer? It seems she is happy to be back spending more time with her ex-partner Bradley Cooper. The two were spotted taking their five-year-old daughter Lea de Seine Shayk Cooper to a Halloween party in New York yesterday. Last month, a source told Page Six that Shayk, 36, and Cooper, 47, are thinking about getting back together and having another baby. “They both haven’t gotten serious with anyone else and they are both into the idea of having a kid,” said the source. My apologies to Huma Abedin.
Are Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly breaking up? It seems that Fox, 36, would prefer you not to think that. While the two have been dodging breakup rumors for months, Fox made a concerted effort this week to assure the public she is still very into her 32-year-old fiancé.
After attending the Time 100 gala together (sure?), Fox commented the following on one of MGK’s Instagram posts from the event:
Ooookay. According to Us Weekly, things have been “up and down” between the two since they got engaged in January, but they are trying to make it work. “There was a point months ago where she was beyond done with him,” a source told the tabloid. “She was fed up with his BS. It got really bad between them. He loves her so much and was the one that pushed to make it work. He wanted it to work and wanted them to be a happy couple. She was having a hard time, but things have turned around.”
The source added, somewhat hopefully, that Fox and MGK have “worked on their problems,” though “it’s still a struggle at times and they tend to have a lot of ups and downs.”
And then there’s the fact that Fox was spotted without her engagement ring last week. But maybe she just took it off because it’s uncomfortable? Either way, I give this relationship two more months, tops.
STUFF BY HILARY DUFF: Hilary Duff took her family to a Harry Styles concert this week, and it looks like they had a great time.
Finally, I’ll leave you with this photo of Zac Efron, 35, on the set of the A24 wrestling film The Iron Claw this week:
I am praying for him.
