Hello and welcome to Gossip Time, a weekly guide to the stars by Allie Jones. This week: a model is pregnant, a Duchess is overcome by her husband’s genius, and Bradley Cooper is “raising the jar.”
Back in February, Us Weekly published a curious exclusive, claiming out of nowhere that Justin Bieber and his wife, Hailey Rhode Baldwin Bieber, were in a “good place” after navigating “growing pains” in their relationship. A month later, Hailey’s dad, Stephen Baldwin, asked the world to pray for the couple on Instagram, quoting a low-level Christian influencer who claimed the Biebers were facing “spiritual warfare that’s intense and seeks to ship-wreck their faith, marriage and life in general.” And then last week, Justin posted photos of himself simply crying on Instagram. I observed these happenings and placed the couple on Gossip Time’s official Divorce Watch register. But lo, I was wrong. All the crying and the praying and the spiritual warfare were actually signs of joy: the Biebers announced yesterday that Hailey is pregnant with their first child. Wheeee!
Both Justin and Hailey shared photos and video from a vow renewal they reportedly did in Kauai last week as part of the announcement. (Judah Smith, the hip evangelical pastor who officiated the Biebers’ wedding ceremony in South Carolina in 2019, did the honors for this ceremony, too). According to People, Hailey wore a custom Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello white lace gown and matching veil. According to my eyes, Justin wore a fuzzy jacket and a backwards Atlanta Braves hat. Ordinarily, I would say that a celebrity vow renewal is also a sign of impending divorce, but clearly the laws of space and time don’t apply here.
TMZ reports that Hailey is already six months along. People says they have a name picked out and everything. “They will be great parents, and Justin will be super involved,” a source told the tabloid. “This will be the next important project for him. He’s so excited to raise his baby. They have a name that they think is perfect. They’re also starting to decorate a nursery. They can’t wait to meet the baby.”
Sounds like they’ve got it all figured out.
My favorite element of this news so far is all the celebrities in the comments of Justin and Hailey’s Instagram posts attempting to telegraph that they knew about the pregnancy before it was announced. The Kardashians, especially, are going hard:

Justin’s most famous ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez, who is happily ensconced in her marriage-track relationship with her perfect boyfriend Benny Blanco, has not commented. But I bet she had a heads up about the news: She coincidentally locked her comments on Instagram just last week. I hope she’s having a peaceful day.
Speaking of happy couples: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are touring Nigeria for their charitable foundation this weekend, and they have already provided the public with some amazing words of wisdom. The former royals’ first stop was a primary school, where they discussed mental health issues. After Harry gave a speech, Meghan took the mic and said, “Do you see why I married him? He’s so smart.”
