Hello and welcome to Gossip Time, a weekly guide to the stars by Allie Jones. This week: a reality star holds hands with a comedian, a Christian couple reflects on their bad marriage, and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen take a smoke break.
Well, Kim Kardashian let her sister and her new fiancé have their moment for almost two weeks. I hope they enjoyed it, because now all anyone can talk about is this:
If by some chance you don’t know exactly what you’re looking at right now, that’s Kardashian, 41, and Pete Davidson, 27, holding hands on one of the spooky rides at Knott’s Scary Farm on Saturday night. Since then, Kardashian has flown to New York to spend even more time with the SNL comedian, who is apparently our mayor now.
My colleagues at Gawker reported that Kardashian and Davidson first spent the night together this past weekend, and the pair has had several public outings since then. On Tuesday, Kardashian traveled to Staten Island to go to Davidson’s “favorite” pizza restaurant Campania, and on Wednesday, the two of them hung out together at the private members club Zero Bond in Manhattan with several Kardashian friends and publicists. (Yes, Jonathan Cheban was there.)
According to a Page Six source, Kardashian and Davidson were “genuinely affectionate with each other” at the club. Genuinely. TMZ reports that Davidson has not filmed anything for the Kardashians’ forthcoming Hulu show yet, “which makes a relationship seem all the more real.”
Another source told E! News that Kardashian “think’s Pete’s hilarious. He is quite the charmer and she totally understands the allure.” A “friend” of Kardashian told the Daily Mail that Davidson is equally smitten with Kardashian, and that he often “grabs her waist, compliments her butt and touches her hair.” Hopefully not all at once.
This is not Davidson’s first time dating a famous woman, of course. He was previously engaged to Ariana Grande, and he has had public relationships with Kate Beckinsale, Margaret Qualley, Kaia Gerber, and, most recently, Phoebe Dynevor. (TBD if he hooked up with Kaley Cuoco when she got divorced this summer.) Kardashian, meanwhile, is in the midst of a divorce from the father of her four children, Kanye West.
West hasn’t directly commented on Kardashian’s new relationship, but in an interview with “Drink Champs” released today (that was taped before the photos of Kardashian and Davidson came out), he said he wanted to get back together with his estranged wife. “SNL making my wife say ‘I divorced him’ on TV because they just wanted to get that bar off and I never have seen the papers,” he said. “We’re not even divorced.” (He also said a lot of other unrelated things about John Legend, Big Sean, and national politics that you can research on your own time.)
It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Hopefully the genuine, off-camera part of Davidson and Kardashian’s relationship was just for this week.
Justin and Hailey Bieber are doing great as usual — JUST KIDDING. The young marrieds joined their newly preferred hip pastors Judah and Chelsea Smith of Churchome on a podcast this week, where they revealed that their relationship has been troubled for many years and unfortunately there’s no getting out. The title of the episode is “Why Marriage?” and the Biebers’ answers are — well. Let’s just go over a couple of them.
“Even when we got married, there was still a lot of damage and hurt that I still needed to work through,” said Justin. He didn’t get into specifics, but Hailey jumped in to reveal that there was a time when he was “struggling” that she considered leaving.
“I remember I called [my mom] a few different times, one particular time [when] we were in Brooklyn, and I was calling her, crying, and I was like, ‘I just can’t do it. There’s no way that I’m going to be able to do this if it’s going to be like this forever,’” she said. Her mom — who has been married to Stephen Baldwin for 30 years — told her to basically get over it.
“I made a decision,” Hailey explained. “I know for a fact that I’ve loved this person for a very long time, and now would not be the time to give up on him. I just wouldn’t do that to him...So I was going to stick it out no matter what the outcome was going to be.”
Hailey is currently 24 years old and I wish her the best.
Speaking of Christians: This man is 100 percent running for office.
“We met at church.” Yeah, we know.
STUFF BY HILARY DUFF: Time for another periodic check-in on Hilary Duff’s personal website, HilaryDuff.com:
Hoping for big developments in 2022.
Finally, I’ll leave you with these photos of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen smoking outside their offices last week:
