Hello and welcome to Gossip Time, a weekly guide to the stars by Allie Jones. This week: Two actors call off their engagement, another actor reveals a secret, and Katie Holmes gets ready to vote.
Oh, also: Gisele Bündchen is pregnant with her jiu-jitsu trainer! We talked all about it in a post just for paid subscribers — catch up here.
We have reached the point in the election cycle where celebrities are leaking bad news in the hopes that it will get washed away in a sea of polling data. We must stay vigilant and focus on the stories that matter, like: Channing Tatum and Zoë Kravitz have called off their engagement.
People got the exclusive on Tuesday night and followed up with some details the next day. According to a source, Tatum, 44, and Kravitz, 35, broke up just last weekend. “They haven’t been on the same page and grew apart,” the source said. Huh!
Tatum and Kravitz have been dating pretty much since Kravitz filed for divorce from Karl Glusman at the end of 2020. (Was there overlap? Who’s to say. Kravitz did not go public with Tatum until her divorce was finalized in August 2021.) They spent their whole relationship collaborating on the worst movie I saw this year, Blink Twice, FKA Pussy Island. The press tour for that wrapped in September, and Tatum posted a tribute to his fiancee written in his typical style on Instagram:
The couple was last spotted together at Blink Twice actor Levon Hawke’s play in Red Hook on October 6. (Hawke is the 22-year-old son of Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, who is perhaps best known for appearing in those courtside photos with Rihanna.)
A source told People of that outing, “Channing and Zoë held hands and looked very comfortable together and settled into their relationship. They were affectionate but no overboard PDA or anything. They were so cool and chill. They were blown away by how intellectual the play was.”
Congrats to Hawke’s publicist for sneaking that in there.
So what happened? I have to think that Tatum’s long, drawn-out divorce from Jenna Dewan played a role in the split. Tatum and Dewan, who share 11-year-old daughter Everly, originally separated in 2018 but just finalized their divorce at the end of September. They were on the brink of going to trial, with Dewan demanding a bigger piece of the Magic Mike IP (she claimed it was developed with marital funds). Tatum, in turn, wanted Dewan’s current partner, erstwhile Broadway actor Steve Kazee, to testify “regarding his and Petitioner’s cohabitation, joint expenses and all related matters.” (Dewan and Kazee just had their second baby together in June.)
We don’t know the details of the settlement, but it seems like there is still some tension between the parties. Shortly after the Tatum-Kravitz breakup news broke on Tuesday, Kazee posted this on his Instagram story:
Dewan’s rep later claimed he was laughing at a meme about houseplants. Okay.
Perhaps Kravitz was simply a bit tired of all this.
Now for some more light-hearted blended-family gossip involving Hugh Grant. The 64-year-old actor has been making the rounds to promote his new A24 horror movie Heretic this week, and as a treat, he shared the names of his two youngest children during an interview with Jimmy Kimmel. Before we get to the names, let’s review his (relatively new) history as a father.
In September 2011, Grant became a dad for the first time at the age of 51 when his girlfriend Tinglan Hong gave birth to his daughter Tabitha Xiao Xi Grant. (Grant told the press “xiao xi” means “happy surprise.”) Exactly one year later, Grant had another baby, John Mungo Grant, with a different girlfriend named Anna Eberstein. Three months after that, he had another baby with Hong, a boy named Felix Chang Hong Grant. Then he had two more children with Eberstein and ultimately married her in 2018. Those two kids’ names are: Lulu Danger Grant and Blue Grant (both girls).
Of Lulu’s name, Grant told Kimmel, “I was in a bit of a panic with my wife on the day we named her and we thought it might be nice for her when she was older if she could say in bars that her middle name was Danger.” He added that his son John picked Blue’s name after his favorite color. All good with me.

I wish Kendall had invested a bit more.
Finally, I’ll leave you with this pap shot of Katie Holmes wearing one of those $400 sweaters from Lingua Franca:
Time to vote! Check back here on Tuesday and we’ll run through some more gossip as an election distraction.
Thanks so much for opening this email. And thank you especially to paid subscribers! Your contributions keep this operation running, and I love you.
I'm going to spend some time thinking about Hugh Grant's history as a father, thank you
What caught my attention this week was Ariana's PR puff piece for her bf, Ethan Slater in GQ.
