Hello and welcome to Gossip Time, a weekly guide to the stars by Allie Jones. This week: Some celebs are proposing, others are divorcing, and Meghan Markle is on TV.
Paid subscribers got a deep dive into Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster’s big pap stroll this week. Click here to catch up!
My heart is with everyone affected by the fires in California. Please feel free to share GoFundMe links and other donation pages in the comments – let’s all try to help as many people as we can.
It’s a new year, and many of our beloved celebrities are reconfiguring their relationships. Hollywood attorneys must have worked overtime the last two weeks to handle all the prenups and divorce settlements. In the happy column: Zendaya and Tom Holland are engaged! Love the ring.

Jessica Alba and Cash Warren, meanwhile, are divorcing after 16 years of marriage. To be honest, it never seemed like she liked him that much. (“Jess has mentioned over the years that it’s hard to keep the spark,” a source told People yesterday.)
Somewhere in the middle are Justin and Hailey Bieber, who are still married but continuously “working on it.”
Over Christmas, some TikTokers speculated for the umpteenth time that the couple was breaking up. Now, we have this Us Weekly exclusive to reassure us:
A shift in which direction, you ask? A positive one, I guess.
“There has been a total shift in their marriage since renewing their vows and welcoming baby Jack,” a source told the tabloid. “He’s truly brought them so much happiness and a renewed bond.”
That’s good.
Hailey’s model buddy Kaia Gerber, however, is going through a breakup: TMZ reports that she and Austin Butler called it quits sometime before her family’s New Year’s trip to Cabo. A source told TMZ there is “no bad blood” between Gerber, 23, and Butler, 33, but some fans are speculating that Butler has taken up with his new co-star Zoë Kravitz. Butler and Kravitz, 36, filmed Darren Aronofksy’s Caught Stealing together in New York this past fall, around the time Kravitz broke up with Channing Tatum. I guess we’ll see what happens with that.
Gerber, meanwhile, was spotted with two different Top Gun: Maverick actors during her family vacation in Cabo: Lewis Pullman (son of Bill Pullman) and Glen Powell. I think everyone involved here is going to be fine.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie spent the last week of 2024 finalizing their divorce after eight long years duking it out in court and the press. Pitt declined to comment; Jolie’s attorneys released this statement to People:
“More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family. This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”
Yikes. I am fascinated by the choice to refer to Jolie as “Angelina” and Pitt as “Mr. Pitt.” Unfortunately, Pitt and Jolie’s legal battle over Chateau Miraval is ongoing and will probably continue for the next 10-15 years. But in the meantime, Pitt can get married again! To his perfect, understanding, thirty-something girlfriend Ines de Ramon, of course.
Pitt “was influenced by Ines to finally settle,” a source told Page Six. “Ines wants to have a life together — with possibly children in the future — without the albatross that was the eight-year War of the Roses.”
If there’s one thing Pitt, 61, should do, it’s have more kids. God, he probably will.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez also just settled their divorce, after a comparatively speedy five-month mediation process. People reports that J.Lo is keeping the $5 million, 8.5-carat green diamond engagement ring Affleck proposed with in 2022. This, to me, is TOO SAD, but I remain hopeful they will reconcile sometime in the next decade and have another big wedding.
STUFF BY HILARY DUFF: Younger is now streaming on Netflix! If you’ve never seen it, perhaps this quote from Duff’s interview with Elle about the show in 2015 will spark your interest:
“Our show is really edgy…There’s an episode coming up in which we’re going to all do Molly. It’s like, ‘What? On TV Land?’”
(Younger originally aired on TV Land.)
Finally, I must ask: Do you plan to watch With Love, Meghan when it premieres on Netflix next week?
I think we all have to.
Thanks so much for opening this email. And thank you especially to paid subscribers! Your contributions keep this operation running, and I love you.
I will for sure watch the Meghan show. It isn't really a kind of show I'm normally super interested in, but I want it to do well because the haters she has are so vile.
We MUST watch Meghan, and we MUST talk about it here!
